Guidance Center
Complementing the instructioal program of the school, the guidance
program is an inseparable aspect of education. It is the sum total
of helping services purposely created and contrived to facilitate
the realization of optimum human growth and development of all learners.
To implement the goals of education, the guidance programs renders
the following services to sudents:
General Services:
Admission Services. Processes and
issues School ID's and registration forms.
Individual Inventory. Processes and
issues School ID's and registration forms
Individual Inventory - Collects and keeps records of individual.
Testing Services. Administers and
interpret results of psychological tests; Intelligence Quotient
(I.Q) aptitute, interest and personality tests.
Counseling Services. Offers a personalized
assistance for resolution of problems and personality development.
Information Services. Handles the
responsibility of collation, assimilation and dissemination of educational
vocational, and personal-social information.
Placement Services. Gives assistance
in the placement of students in certain career, curricular and co-curricular
activities suited to his/her needs, interest and ability for satisfatory
adjustment.
Referral Services. Makes referal to
more appropriate or specialized services of the school and other
significant persons or agency who can provide assistance and information
that otherwise would not be available.
Student Development. Organizes and
conducts training programs for educational, career, and professional
development of students and staff.
Student Affairs Office (SAO)
The Student Affairs Office assists the CIT Administration in the
accomplishment of its main educational goal - that of the formation
of a whole and well-balanced person by properly developing the intellectual,
physical, and spiritual capabilities of its students.
Services and Functions
It coordinates the non-academic aspects of student life and acts
as the liaison between the students and other school officers on
matter that concern the non-academic needs of the students.
It provides a program of orientation for new students in coordination
with the Deans, Department Heads, and Guidance Center.
It gives encouragement and provides adequae training for creative
leadership among campus organizations and their activities.
It serves as an official medium of communication with other authorities
of CIT, the student body and the general public on matters concerning
student activities.
It nominates students who deserve leadership awards and citations.
It takes overall charge of student discpline.
It screens posters and notices.
It supervises and coordinates student organizations and student
co-curricular activities.
It prepares the semestral calendar of extra-curricular activities
in coordination with the academic heads and various student organizations.
Takes charge of issuance of letters and telegrams as well as the
Lost and Found Section.
Student Organizations
CIT recognizes school organizations as a means of developing the
students' talents and potentialities of good leadership; as opportunities
for enriching student life through wholesome recreation and soial
involvement and as a meduim for more productive endeavors towards
the attainment of the goals of the school.
Students may form and join organizations of their own choice provided
that such organizations are registered and duly recognized by the
Student Afairs Office.
Office of Scholarship and External Affairs (OSEA)
The OSEA handles and recommends scholarship applicants for the following
categories:
a. Academic
b. Non-Academic
c. Athletics
d. Faculty/Administration Discounts
e. Others Scholarships (scholarship grants from private companies,
individual, foundations, etc.)
The OSEA also assist the students in securing On-The-Job Training,
seminar, workshops and plant visits. Furthermore, the office serves
as the Job Placement Bureau and keeps a record of the CIT Graduates
for future job referrals.
The OSEA coordinates with the Guidance Center and Student Affairs
Office in various student development programs.
The OSEA computes the grade averages of scholars, the Parangal
Honorees and keeps a record of the Deans List, the Parangal Honorees
and board topnotchers. It assists the CIT Administation in recognizing
student academic achievers, subject to a review by a committee created
by the President.
Learning Resource Center Services
The Department of Instructional Communications Technology. This
department functions as a learning resource center for the improvement
of the teaching and learning processes through the effective use
of instructional technology methods and practices. Within this framework,
the services hat students can avail of from the deparment are the
following:
- The provision of facilities to accommodate instructional media
needs.
- The provision of instruction to students on the effective use
of media software and hardware.
- The provision of alternative learning resources through the
maintenance and development of student and teacher made learning
materials.
- Support of cultural activities of students in the form of artistic
and technical guidance, and consultation.
- The provision of a center for recreational formation and guidance
in the proper use of leisure time.
The College Library. The Cebu Institute
of Technology library has a growing collection of information source
materials that are mostly needed to support the total instructional
programs of the institution. Aside from books, the library's collection
includes scholarly journals, periodical, government publication
and technical reports.
The Cebu Institue of Technology's library holdings have been greatly
enriched through the acquition of Engineering source materials through
EDPITAF funds. These materials are not only of quantity but are
of quality since titles are found in standard bibliography and are
used by standard engineering schools.
Library Hours. The Library maintains
a regular schedule including evening and weekend hours. The changes
in the schedule shall be posted in advance.
The Library's services include:
- Library guided tour/orientation
- Reference Service
- Book borrowing
- Searching Stack Service
- Indexing
- Compiling bibliography for faculty
- Educational programs on video tapes in coordination with the
Department of Instructional Communicaions Technology
- The library likewise extends services to alumni and visiting
researches when their needs are not in conflict with those of
the students and faculty of CIT.
The current validated CIT I.D. card and borrower's card should
be presented upon entrance to the library and when borrowing or
returning library materials respectively. The cards are non-transferable.
The library reserves the right to refuse admission or service without
proper identification.
Medical and Dental Services
The medical and dental clinic offers free consultation and emergency
treatment as well as other services as may be deemed necessary.
Department of Physical Education
The department provides an integrated physical education program.
it offers courses which afford maximum instruction and enjoyment
in various areas of physical activities covering individual, dual
and team sports, dance, recreational and therapeutic activities
as well as a course in physical fitness. These courses encourage
attitudes toward greater participation in the different activities.
The department likewise conducts a regular intramural sports program
for the students.
The school is a member of the Cebu Amateur Athletic Association
(CAAA) and the PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) which
conduct a calendar of Athletic events during the academic year.
CITAA, Inc.
Graduates will automatically become members of the Cebu Institute
of Tehnology Alumni Association, Inc. (CITAA, Inc.) which is primarily
aimed at promoting fellowship and mutual benefits among CIT Alumni
and uphold the ideals of our Alma Matter. The Association will assist
its members on job placement and give honos and recognition too.
Its annual alumni homecomingis held on a Sunday during the CIT's
College Day Celebration.
Bulletin Boards
The school maintains bulletin boards which are strategically located
at the two (2) entrances: front and back gate, back lobby and individual
bulletin boards for every department.
All postings therein are screened by the Student Affairs (SAO).
The school reserves the right to deny the posting of materials which
the school feels is not important to the students in general.
Canteens
The campus canteens which serve snacks lunch enjoy the patronage
of student, teachers, and the non-teaching staff. Accessibly located,
they serve their habitues at all school hours.
