PHINMA Execs Visit Boosts Scholars’ Morale

Dr. Magdaleno B. Albarracin, Jr., Vice-Chairman of Philippine Investment-Management, Inc (PHINMA) Group of Companies and PHINMA Foundation, and Ms. Laurie D. Javier, PHINMA Foundation Executive Director, recently visited Cebu Institute of Technology to meet with school officials and PHINMA scholars. The meeting was held at the Vice-President for Academic Affairs’ conference room on January 28, 2010.

On behalf of CIT President Mr. Gregorio Escario, Vice-President for Academic Affairs Atty. Corazon Valencia thanked Dr. Albarracin and Ms. Javier for their continuing support through the scholarship program

During the meeting, Dr. Albarracin stressed the importance of hard work and continuous study. He also reminded the scholars that education is the best gift a person can give to oneself. The students were likewise encouraged to recognize the importance of giving back to society as a way of expressing their gratitude for the educational support they have received.

Also present were Student Personnel Services and Management Information Systems (SPS/MIS) Director Engr. Bernard Nicolas Villamor, Office of Admissions and Scholarships (OAS) Head Engr. Roberto Base, Union Galvasteel Corporation Accounting Manager Mr. Dennis F. Savellano, and PHINMA scholars.

The PHINMA Foundation currently supports three scholars, namely: Melani Lasola (BSCHE-3), Conrado Logroño, Jr. (BSME-3) and Anna Marie Yongco (BSIE-3).

Since it started in 1995, the program has produced ten scholar-alumni.
