Team CIT-ECE is the Philippines’ #2

The Cebu Institute of Technology – Electronics Engineering (CIT- ECE) Team placed second in the 30th Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) Interscholastic Quiz Show held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City on December 10, 2009.
The team is composed of Technologians Roel Comporal, Darling Angel Montealto, Jason Hisoler, Jofferson Gonzales, Vincent Tagpuno, and Jose Kenneth Dances. Engr. Susana Tan, Chair of the Electronics Engineering Department, accompanied the students and served as their official coach.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Manila (PUP- Manila) and University of the East-Caloocan (UE- Caloocan) ranked 1st and 3rd, respectively. PUP led CIT by only one objective question equivalent to 5 points.
The CIT team proved their competitive edge once again by defeating more than 20 top engineering schools from all over the Philippines. The same team won during the IECEP Visayas Regional Quiz Bowl held in SM City Cebu Entertainment Plaza last Sept 12, 2009.
CIT claimed the championship in the regional event from 2004 to 2006 and the second place in 2007 and 2008. In 2005, CIT was 2nd runner-up in the national level.
The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. is the only accredited professional organization (APO) of electronics engineering practitioners by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
