Two faculty members of Cebu Institute of Technology, Dr. Elmer Maravillas and Engr. Chris Jordan Aliac, presented their paper on ‘Vision-Based Robot Manipulator Control Using Self-Organizing Maps’ at the 13th International Conference on Mechatronics Technology (ICMT 2009). The international conference was held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel on October 20-23, 2009.
Along with event organizer De La Salle University, Cebu Institute of Technology was one of only two academic institutions from the Philippines whose paper submissions qualified for presentations during the parallel sessions.
The paper on ‘Vision-Based Robot Manipulator Control Using Self-Organizing Maps’ is a team research study authored by Engr. Chris Jordan Aliac (Research Coordinator), Engr. Roel Lauron (Chair, Computer Studies Dept), Dr. Elmer Maravillas (Chair, Computer Engineering Dept), and Prof. Cherry Lyn Sta. Romana (Dean, College of Computer Studies).
The conference brought in industry practitioners, professors, researchers, and students from several countries, and mechatronics experts from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, Korea, and UK.
