Computer Science

The BS Computer Science program is the study of computing concepts and theories; algorithmic foundations; and new developments in computing. The program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software; and develop new and effective algorithms for solving computing problems. The program also includes the study of the standards and practices in Software Engineering; and prepares students to acquire skills and disciplines required for designing, writing and modifying software components, modules and applications that comprise software solutions.

Program Educational Objectives

  1. Graduates will be competent professionals with an integrated understanding of computing systems, processes, and the main body of knowledge of computer science as a whole. They will be engaged in computing-related careers such as researchers, software engineers, technical specialists and computer programmers in private practice, academe, industry, or government.
  2. Graduates will be capable of engaging in life-long learning activities relevant to their profession, including earning advanced degrees or completing professional training.
  3. Graduates will be capable of exhibiting professionalism in working individually or as a member/leader of a team; communicating effectively; and meeting the social and ethical responsibilities of their profession.
