Guidance Center

The Guidance Center provides relevant and qualitative programs aimed to facilitate students to self-actualize and become upright leaders in their respective communities. It also envisions the holistic development of the individual to be highly competent in his chosen field, effective, productive, and responsive to local and global issues.

Our Goals

  • To develop psychologically mature, balanced, and value-laden individuals.

  • To develop a responsive individual who can adapt to situations and personalities, and can relate to issues.

  • To instill in the individual professionalism with positive work attitude and the capability to serve the local and global communities.

CHED Memorandum Nos. 21 and 25 emphasize the strengthening of the Guidance and Counseling Services on academic institutions through a well-planned assessment program.

General Services:

  • Testing. It provides objective assessment of clients. Conducts admission test for all incoming freshmen and transferees.

  • Appraisal. It objectively collects and analyzes the necessary personal, psychological and social information to help a student understand himself.

  • Counseling to walk-in and referred clients. This is the heart of the guidance program. It is an interactive process that facilitates meaningful understanding of the self and environment.

  • Group Guidance. In-service training programs are offered to student organizations, student groups, administration, and faculty for skills enhancement. ¬†Other customized training modules are also provided.

  • Follow-up. This maintains contact and keeps track of the mobility of the students through consultations and conferences with the Registrar’s office and the faculty regarding students’ performance (academic or behavioral).

  • Referral. This provides specialized assistance to the clients through tapping other professionals or agencies.

  • Service to Parents. It provides consultation time to parents who need assistance in dealing with the behavioral and adjustment problems of their student/child. Parents can also participate in case conferences involving their student/child.

  • Information. It is designed to provide the clients with appropriate educational, vocational, and personal-social information necessary for individual growth.

  • Placement. Provides students with personal-social, academic, and career choices and be able to act and adjust on them. Coordinates with the Office of Industry Relations in providing information regarding job placement.

  • Research and Evaluation. Conducts action researches as bases for program evaluation and development.

Special Programs

  • Peer Facilitator Program. Trains student volunteers to act as implementing partners of the guidance counselors.

  • Practicum Supervision. Allows Psychology students from other tertiary schools to experience guidance and counseling job.
