Project AQUARIA gets Coca Cola Barkada Water Stewardship Award

The Industrial Engineering (IE) Council’s Project AQUARIA (Abiding Quality Aquatic Responsibility through Innovation and Awareness) got the Coca-Cola Barkada Water Stewardship Award on the occasion of the 14th Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards held at Diamond Hotel, Manila on February 16, 2017. The CIT University IE Council is one of the finalists of the 14th TAYO.

Project AQUARIA teaches 5-9 year-old kids in Metro Cebu the importance of water conservation at home and in school through Water Warrior, a mobile application developed by a team of Computer Science, Information Technology and Industrial Engineering students and faculty. The IE Council has collaborated with the Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) and Cebu City Hall for the implementation of the project. To date, the project has reached out to 820 kids from 14 schools and barangays and has involved 276 volunteers from CIT and other universities in Cebu City like CNU, USC, and USJR.

In 2011, the IE Council was hailed TAYO winner for their entry Project NOWTBUKS. Engr. Cheradee Cabanlit and Engr. Aries Rivero serve as IE Council Advisers.
