External Linkages Increase Employability of CS and IT Graduates
Though known to be a top engineering school, CIT University also produces the best computer studies graduates in the country. Because of their proven expertise, companies from all over the world are encouraged to partner with us, not just in grooming our students while in school but as well as affording them the best opportunities once they graduate.
One of these companies is Rococo Global Technologies, a Japanese IT company. When they first came to the country in 2011, they went to different schools nationally and had 4th year computer studies students take an examination which gauged their computer and programming knowledge and skills. Six of our students made it to the top 10, with three occupying the top three spots. When these students graduated in 2012, they were then given job offers by Rococo and became part of the pioneer group of employees of Rococo Global Technologies, Philippines based in Cebu City. The four are still happily employed in the company and one has been transferred to Japan.
To further establish linkage with the university, Rococo invited College of Computer Studies (CCS) Dean, Cherry Lyn Sta. Romana to their headquarters in Japan last 2012. The following year, Rococo signed a MOA with CIT to formalize the partnership. Since then, Rococo has been regularly recruiting CIT graduates to work for their company. In year 2014, CCS started offering elective programs facilitated by ROCOCO engineers duly assisted by our own instructors. Because faculty members are also able to learn from the engineers’ field experience, this has been the one of the best practices for their Faculty Industry Immersion model. Starting this year 2017, Rococo will be giving away full sponsorship to ten selected computer studies students who wanted to take the prestigious PhilNITS (Philippine National Information Technology Standards Foundation Inc.) examination.
In CIT University, we fortify external linkages with companies in various industries. Not only do they provide great opportunities for learning to our students, they also open a lot of doors for our graduates. The university’s student success framework guarantees full support from enrollment to employment.
